Health Services
The Student Health Center, which is operated under the Office of Student affairs, seeks to safeguard the health of each student. All students are required to complete and submit the University Health Examination form with requested immunization attached.
Type of Services
The Student Health Center is an outpatient center that provides both clinical and educational functions (services) for all students while enrolled at Alabama A&M University. A walk-in system is employed and students may report for service at anytime the center is open. It is important to know that waiting times will vary depending on the availability of the staff and the patient load for the day.
Hours of Operation
The health center is opened from 8:00 A.M. -5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday; Closed on Saturday and Sunday and when school is not in session. Services obtained at emergency room(s) must be of an acute/serious nature. Other minor services can be obtained at walk-in clinic (referral needed). Consult insurance booklet regarding situation.
Services Offered
Medical Clinic – Routine medical care for general illness or injury
Lab – In-house lab work available
Pharmacy – Dispenses student prescriptions from staff provider only
Allergist – Allergery injections are administered at the direction of the patient’s allergist, along with medication and instructions. However, the patient’s personal physician or allergist must administer the initial dose.
Health Education – Educational Services, outreach programming and campus health events
Other Services – All other services are referred out with a referral if needed
