New!!  Graduate Program in Materiel Engineering

Summer Outreach Program

Incoming Freshman
School of Engineering & Technology

The School of Engineering and Technology consists of programs in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, industrial technology and computer science.  Our students can also obtain a masters degree in computer science and electrical engineering technology.  Pre-college technical teachers can obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees in Industrial Technology Education through our Industrial Technology Department in collaboration with our School of Education.  Over 60 instructors and staff members work to provide quality education, research and service to our students, industry, businesses and our community.

Beginning in Fall 2008, two new programs will be initiated.  Students will be able to obtain BS degrees in Construction Management through our Technology Department and a Master of Engineering degree through our three engineering departments.  The Construction Management program will prepare graduates to engage in large scale building projects.  The Master of Engineering program is a broad based, multi-disciplinary engineering program that prepares students for many of the jobs in the Northern Alabama area.  The core of the program is four courses:  Life-Cycle Design Engineering, Product Assurance Engineering, Analysis and Simulation Methods, and Test and Evaluation Engineering.

All of our programs are accredited through three commissions of the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Faculty in the School participate in research in computational fluid dynamics, pavement modeling and analysis, soil-structure interaction, composites and other non-metallics, subsonic and supersonic combustion, laser scanning and measurements, quality assurance and reliability, high performance parallel computing, micro and nano-electronics and hybrid device design and fabrication, pattern recognition and target identification and classification, supercomputers, and many other areas.  We participate with small and large organizations through Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and STTR programs.  We have contract and research grants through a number of federal agencies.  Involving students in these projects is considered a part of our mission.

We encourage the readers of this page to consider doing business with us if you are a corporation, federal or state agency.  If you are in high school or middle school we encourage you to apply for one of our outreach program.  And, if you are a high school graduate, we encourage you to consider our undergraduate programs.
