TO REPORT PROBLEMS WITH TELEPHONES, JACKS OR WIRING:
Call 4357 with the following information: Name, Extension Number having problem, Voice Comm tag number (on bottom of phone all tags start with VC), Building, Room, Callback Number. Your call will be ticketed, and work will be performed by the technician. Emergency calls will be corrected on a priority basis. Emergency calls are defined as a department wide, building-wide, or campus-wide problem.
TO REQUEST AN ADD, MOVE, OR CHANGE TO EXISTING SERVICE:
Call 4357 with the following information: Name, Description of service requested, Callback Number, Voice Comm Tag Number, Building, Room, and Budget Account Code. If no parts are needed work will be scheduled within 3 – 5 working days. If parts are required, we will call back with an estimate of cost. Issue a requisition to Voice Communications for the appropriate amount. Please allow 5 – 7 working days from date requisition is received in the Voice Communication office. Requisitions will be ticketed and worked in the order in which they were received. For larger jobs involving 5 or more phones, we will be happy to provide a site survey, and cost estimate prior to beginning the requisition process. Larger jobs will be scheduled on a negotiated date basis.
TO REQUEST ADDITIONAL LINES (Telephone Numbers):
Call 4357 with the following information: Name, Description of new lines needed, Building, Room, Callback Number, Budget Account Code. The request will be ticketed and processed the following working day. Normal BellSouth or AT&T interval schedules will apply. (this is 3 working days for up to 3 lines, 7 working days for over 3 lines, and 12 working days for ISDN or other special circuits.)
TO ORDER TELEPHONE SERVICES NOT REQUIRING ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT:
Call Voice communications at 4357 and place order for work to be done. Please be sure to include old and new extension numbers, room numbers and buildings. A work order ticket will be generated and your department will be charged for the time and materials required. An estimate can be provided for large scale work orders (orders affecting 3 or more telephone sets). Please allow 5 to 7 working days for moves, adds, or changes to your phones.
TO ORDER TELEPHONE SERVICES REQUIRING ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT:
Create requisition for the appropriate amount of items. If an estimate or advice is needed, please call Chris Malone at X8312. There are three types of phones available for installation:
- M8009 – Basic Single Line Phone $ 65.00 each
- M2008 – 8 Button Digital Handsfree Phone with display $ 225.00 each
- M2616 – 16 Button Digital Speakerphone with display $ 250.00 each
Requisitions should be sent to Voice Communications, ATTN: Chris Malone, CCN Rm. 121 Please allow 7 to 10 working days for additional equipment to be installed. Large orders for more than 5 phones will require a longer interval, but Voice Comm will do the work as promptly as possible. Please allow 1 hour of labor per telephone set if the jack is existing. If cable will need to be installed, allow 2.5 hours labor per phone. Current rates for labor are $58.00 per hour billable in 30 minute increments, with a 30 minute minimum.

NO INDIVIDUAL DEPARTMENT SHOULD PURCHASE TELEPHONE EQUIPMENT OR SUPPLIES, LINES OR SERIVCES WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM VOICE COMMUNICATIONS. ALL ASPECTS OF ADDITIONS INCLUDING IMPACT ON CURRENT EQUIPMENT LOAD ON SITE MUST BE CONSIDERED BEFORE ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT PURCHASES CAN BE APPROVED.
